What’s happening around town? Well, if you have booked a vacation along the beaches of South Walton during the month of August, there is no shortage of fun events and activities for you to enjoy. That goes for every month around here, doesn’t it? The communities of Santa Rosa Beach and 30A host events that keep locals and tourists entertained all year long – here’s what’s going on this month!
‘Laughs for Literacy’ Book-Signing with Author ‘THE Sweet Potato Queen’
Yes, you read that right – THE Sweet Potato Queen herself, Jill Conner Browne, will be coming to South Walton on Friday, August 5th to do a book signing as part of a project by the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy. All proceeds from this event will benefit students in Walton County.
Nashville Songwriters Florida Sunshine Tour at Bud and Alley’s
This tour of Nashville music has been going since April, and August 9th will be the tour’s last stop at 30A restaurant, Bud and Alley’s. This event is free and open to the public! This will be a night of music that you don’t want to miss and will be the perfect addition to your beach vacation at one of our cottage rentals.
30A Farmer’s Market at Rosemary Beach
Are you aware of the Farmer’s Market heaven that lies in Santa Rosa Beach, FL? There are farmer’s markets happening on every corner of 30A and beyond. The 30A Farmer’s Market at Rosemary Beach takes place every Sunday, and from Memorial Day through Labor Day, there is an additional market on Thursdays. You can find everything from fresh produce to handmade soaps and everything in between – this is truly a unique 30A experience.
Wine Walkabout and ‘Battle of the Brushes’ at Gulf Place
Gulf Place is such a quaint little community on 30A that has so much to offer to locals and tourists. On Thursday, August 17th, come out to Gulf Place and sip wine while you walk around and explore all of the restaurants, arts and boutiques. Also, the Artists of Gulf Place will be doing a ‘Battle of the Brushes’ exhibit where the artists paint in competition and then put their work up for sale at the end of the night.
Catch a Movie Under the Stars
